Meet the Person Behind Village Clubhouse
Hi, I’m Janina, the person behind The Village Clubhouse.
I’m originally from Germany, and my path to Greenville has been shaped by places that deeply value togetherness and shared experiences. During my studies in Innsbruck, Austria, a vibrant university town, I fell in love with environments where people naturally gathered: studying side by side, lingering in cafés, and showing up to small events simply to connect. That culture taught me how much the spaces we move through influence how we feel and relate to one another.
Later, a year studying in New Orleans introduced me to the warmth and openness of the South. Conversations with strangers felt easy, and everyday moments held space for connection. That sense of community stayed with me long after I returned to finish graduate school in Maine, where I completed my dual master’s degree and built lifelong friendships.
Greenville entered my life unexpectedly when I moved here to support a friend during her internship and it quickly became home. After working at AARP and later starting my own business, I realized that while I loved the flexibility and independence, I deeply missed shared energy and community. Working alone from home made me long for a space that felt alive, somewhere creative, welcoming, and human.
Village Clubhouse grew from that feeling.
What began as a personal dream to create a cozy, physical place evolved into a flexible co-working and community space designed for connection. During the day, it offers a calm environment to focus or collaborate. In the evenings, it transforms into a gathering space for workshops, private events, and meaningful experiences.
A big part of this vision is collaboration. Village Clubhouse partners with local artists, wellness practitioners, and small businesses to bring thoughtful experiences into the space - from creative workshops and tea blending to photo sessions, flower carts, and more. Supporting local talent and building genuine connections within Greenville’s community is at the heart of everything here.
More than anything, I hope this becomes a place where people feel comfortable showing up as they are, not rushed, not pressured, and never alone.
If you’re curious, I’d truly love to hear from you, exchange ideas, or simply share a coffee when you’re nearby. Village Clubhouse is still growing, and the people who walk through the door help shape what it becomes.
